In September 2026, the Poulenc Trio joined accordionist Hanzhi Wang for a two-week residency at Yunnan Arts University in Kunming. At the heart of the visit was the university’s September 14–18 international music exchange week, with lectures, masterclasses, rehearsals, and a shared concert.

Teaching and exchange

Irina Kaplan Lande, Aleh Remezau, Bryan Young, and Hanzhi Wang worked with students in piano, oboe, bassoon, accordion, and chamber music. The visit also included discussions with faculty about music education.

Creating music and building the stage

Two lectures explored the life of a chamber ensemble and the work behind its performances: “Poulenc Trio: Performing, Commissioning, and Touring in the 21st Century” and “Building the Stage: The Business of Presenting Chamber Music in America.”

A shared stage

The September 18 China–US Exchange Concert, “乐通中外: Bridging Cultures Through Music,” brought the visiting artists together with university faculty and students. Among its collaborations was the Yunnan folk song “Flowing Stream” (小河淌水), performed with soprano Lin Lin in a new arrangement.
